| Like many artists, I have been drawn to a wide range of mediums throughout my life. My love of color, texture, form, and design has been expressed through textiles, photography, gardening, beads, and jewelry. After years of only being able to pursue my art part-time, I decided to give up my day job in health care and to follow my creative passions on a full-time basis. I am an active board member of Clayville, a wonderful polymer clay guild in Northern California, whose members constantly inspire me with their artistic wisdom and generous friendship. I am also a member of the International Polymer Clay Association (formerly the National Polymer Clay Guild). I helped to organize and run the artist gallery at both of the IPCA's Synergy Conferences in 2008 and 2010. Over the past few years I have been fortunate to participate in workshops with Kathleen Dustin, Sarah Shriver, Seth Savarick, Klew, Desiree McCrorey, Maggie Maggio, and Robert Dancik. All of these fine artists have helped to make my transition from medicine to art much more satisfying and have encouraged me to grow creatively in leaps and bounds. I love to combine polymer clay with vintage and contemporary materials to produce one-of-a-kind art that expresses my eclectic and organic sense of style. Each piece usually requires several techniques to achieve the result I'm after. I particularly enjoy making beads, wearable art, accessories, and home decor items. In addition to this website, I sell my work through local and online bead shops, Etsy, art events, and galleries. |
