Today In My Garden – May 17

I’ve been heading out to the garden every Monday morning for the past six weeks to take pictures. It not only serves to sharpen my photography skills (practice makes perfect), but also allows me to look for the beauty on my property rather than just seeing the undone chores. Since I’m a very undisciplined blogger I thought that posting the pictures here as well would get me here at least once a week!

Today is an overcast, drizzly day…perfect for garden photography. We are in a “Mediterranean” climate and are fortunate to be able to grow many Mediterranean plants as well as plants from Australia and New Zealand. There are many beautiful natives to the Sierra Nevadas as well. As in gardens everywhere, there is always something blooming in the springtime…

I’m a baaaaaad blogger!

Wow, my 2008 New Year’s resolution was to blog, blog, blog, but I see I actually signed on only a handful of times last year…

I’ve been on the hunt for art shows to apply to and found a few that sound fun. The shows I did in 2008 forced me to think hard about my displays and I’m pleased with what we came up with.

When I hear about my applications I will update and send out a newsletter to the list.

Word Press for Dummies (that’s me!)

I’m having flashbacks back to when I created my website without any experience or history with that sort of thing. I ultimately did it, but it took many hours and days of frustrating dead ends and wrong turns to get there. I don’t want to use one of the easy, straight-out-of-the-can blog templates (that would be too easy!); I want to tweak it to create a look that somewhat matches my website in color, layout, fonts, etc. After much fumbling around in unknown territory, I ordered “Word Press for Dummies” from Amazon. I hope it helps!

My new(est) blog…

I sort of belly-flopped into the blogging pool. One of things I want to offer on my blog is a blog roll. Apparently, this is not something that just happens. A widget is required so the template selected must be “widget ready”. AAAACK! I also had a pingback notice….huh? So, I’ve spent too much of today delving into this new (for me) language.

I got frustrated and decided to start fresh so I deleted the previous blog, which had about 3 or so entries. I thought I would go back to the Yahoo! 360 blog or a Movable Type blog; however, the same problem of figuring out how to attach a blog roll popped up so I went back to Word Press.

Grrrrrr………
